ANCORA SULLE PITTURE CON ARIANNA E LEDA A SABRATHA Il contributo prende in esame la decorazione pittorica della volta e di gran parte di due pareti di un piccolo ambiente, rinvenuta in frammenti nello scavo della Casa di Leda (Regio II, ins. 6) e oggi esposta nella “Sala di Arianna e di Leda” del Museo Archeologico di Sabratha. Lo studio delle pitture, conosciute finora solo grazie a una breve nota di Gennaro Pesce apparsa sul Bollettino d’Arte nel 1951, rientra in una ricerca sull'edilizia privata di Sabratha coordinata da chi scrive, nell’ambito del progetto di studio e di pubblicazione dei vecchi scavi italiani condotto dalla Missione archeologica dell’Università di Palermo a Sabratha. In 1996 and 1997, a century after the excavations conducted by F. Halbherr, new soundings were conducted in the Greek agora at Gortyna as part of the activities of the Italian Archaeological School at Athens, and with the permission and cooperation of the 23th Ephoria of Antiquities of Heraklion. The excations started from the western edge of the agora, by the Mitropolianos torrent, where F. Halbherr and L. Pernier had discovered three parallel walls. The Universities of Pavia and Oxford continued their investigations in Villa Adriana, in the area called Plutonium, traditionally interpreted as a reproduction of the Underworld, and located on one of the highest rises of the complex, in the east part of the Villa. The excavations took place from 1 to 21 July 2019. A team of 12 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers took part in the project, both from Oxford and Pavia Universities (S. Andronio, I. Bossolino, E. Casarotti, A. Dalgkitsi, E. Di Virgilio, V. Jukic Buca, A. Poldi Allai, G. Restaino, T. Runeckles, A. Verde).
